Peakhas been plastered all over the internet, selling over 2 million copies in its first couple of weeks, and rightly so; it’s a hilarious cooperative game where you and some friends attempt to climb a randomly generated mountain, complete with chaotic proximity chat and unending hazards along the way.
Alongside the numerous TikToks and Instagram Reels I’ve seen while doom-scrolling my responsibilities away, I’ve spent hours scaling that mountain.Sometimes, as a corpse tumbling back down it. But the most special, most wonderful, most magical thing about the whole experience so far? Bing Bong.
And now, Bing Bong is going to be real.
Wipe Away The Tears, It’s True
AggroCrab took to social media to tease and announce two different Peak plushies, both of which are open to petitions on Makeship. The first is one of the player characters, a Scout, which is adorable enough in its own right, and by all means, please support that one as well. But we all know why we’re really here.
Bing Bong himself, that sweet boy we all have carried with us, in our backpacks and our hearts, is soon to be a reality. I’ve gotten that little guy all the way to the peak, with no other objective in mind aside from his safety, and now I’ll be able to keep him safe in real life, too.
This is such a wonderful thing to see, asAggroCrab has already been coming to terms with the wildly explosive - and unexpected - success of Peak. With new content plans being considered for the future, too, fans are already thinking about the potential updates this game could see, and that strong support and love are the reasons the team is able to bring ideas like these plushies to life.
Supporting Indie Devs With Products Like This Is Just As Important
If you have been loving Peak and you’re able to, please do contribute towards these petitions, as it’s a great way of extension to support fantastic indie developers. More support means more love for the game, and more love for the game means a longer lifespan, along with more potential for future projects.
If you haven’t played Peak yet, fix that. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a super simple but special game that I’m going to hold highly for this year. And I’ll take every opportunity to sing the praises of indie developers who deserve the attention and support.
And for any of you that have thrown Bing Bong into the sea, off cliffs, into the lava, or - and this better not be true - thrown himfromthe peak of the mountain, well, you don’t deserve this. I hope you never get your hands on a real Bing Bong.
PEAK
WHERE TO PLAY
PEAK is a co-op climbing game where the slightest mistake can spell your doom. Either solo or as a group of lost nature scouts, your only hope of rescue from a mysterious island is to scale the mountain at its center. Do you have what it takes to reach the PEAK?
WORK TOGETHER
Need a Hand? You’ll need to rely on your friends to have any hope of scaling the mountain, which changes each time you play. Help each other up ledges, or place ropes and climbing spikes to make the way easier for those who come after.
CLIMB
The Mountain Takes no Prisoners! Climb through 4 biomes on your way to the PEAK, each with their own life-threatening obstacles. You’ll need to scavenge for questionable food to survive, and manage your injuries carefully - every setback limits your stamina, making it harder to climb.
SURVIVE
Prepare For the Worst: Discover a variety of helpful survival items, from energy drinks to climbing spikes to the mysterious Anti-Rope. You’ve got no hope of making it to the PEAK unless you press every advantage given to you.
A NEW ISLAND EACH DAY
The game’s map rotates out every 24 hours! Try out the new layout each day, or give the same island multiple attempts in a day until you conquer it.
EARN BADGES
A Well-Seasoned Scout: Show off your survival prowess with dozens of badges to earn and cosmetics to unlock.
CLIMBING IS BETTER WITH FRIENDS
Multiplayer in PEAK is friends-only - invite up to three other scouts through Steam to climb together, or face the mountain alone if you’rereallybrave!
