Followinga disastrous launch that saw it plummet to “Overwhelmingly Negative” statusonSteamon over 30,000 reviews,Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the debut game from Chinese studio Leenzee, is attempting to correct its course.
In a new update shared on the game’s Steam page, the developers offered their sincerest apologies for the inconvenience, adding that they “appreciate everyone for their continued patience and understanding regarding the recent issues surrounding the launch.”
To start, Deluxe Edition owners will receive extra sets of costumes and weapons, while Standard Edition owners will get several items as compensation for the state of the game. Additionally, several optimization fixes are in the works, including updates to fix crashing issues, along with frame rate improvements and enhanced textures and assets, among other changes.
“We ask for your patience as we tackle these optimizations step by step. We hope that one day, both our work and our team will prove worthy of your expectations,” the post concluded.
The update comes afterit was reported how players have taken it upon themselves to fix Fallen Feathers via multiple downloadable mods. It also serves as yet another instance in which a developer has had to apologize to gamers for failing to meet expectations at launch.
Leenzee Isn’t The Only Developer To Have Recently Issued An Apology
Just last week,Splitgate 2 developer 1047 Games revealed that the game would be going back to beta after a similarly disastrous launch. “We rushed certain features, made some boneheaded mistakes, and most importantly – we didn’t give you the polished, portal-filled mayhem you fell in love with,“a post from the developer read.
Before that,MindsEye developer Build a Rocket Boy shared that it was “heartbroken” over its broken launch, adding ina statement of its own that, “We are fully committed to ensuring all our players have a great experience.” Which is to say that if a game is broken at launch, then you can almost assuredly expect a quick apology from its developers, though apologies, on their own, can only go so far.
