With GATE in shambles after things went wrong inAbiotic Factor, you’ll have to survive using whatever you can get your hands on, like crossbow bolts made out of pens and using deck legs as weapons. To make things worse, you also don’t have the clearance others might since you were a new hire.
With most of the researchers dead or missing, you’ll have to make some ramshackle tech if you want to evacuate the facility, and a key component to doing so is the Security Bot CPU. Unfortunately for you, the only way to get them is to rip them out of Security Bots, and they don’t take kindly to employees or intruders.
How To Kill Security Bots
To get aSecurity Bot CPU, you’ll need tokill and break down a Security Bot, but these enemiescan be incredibly dangerousif you aren’t prepared, and cankill you in four to five hits in the early game, even with decent armor.
Security Botsbecome active between 9 PM and 6 AMwhen the power shuts down in the facility, and each one willbegin roaming a set back around their assigned areauntil thepower comes back onin the morning, then theyreturn to their stations and become inactive.
They’re found within theOffice Sector and Manufacturing West, with the easiest andearliest oneto get to being in theOffice Sector’s Cafeteria, just down from theSecurity Station with Warren.
Some othereasy-to-reach locationsyou can find them at include:
Security Bots' headlight will turn red when they spot you or an enemy in their sight lines, and they can see you from far away, but due to their slow walking speed, it’s possible to outrun themand either hide or prepare to fight.
Security Bots have three attacks: amelee-range punch which will briefly stunyou, anelectrically-charged tacklewith a short range that will alsobriefly stunyou, and aspin attack with high knockbackthat’s capable ofhitting multiple enemies, and it prefers to use this when surrounded.
Theeasiest and least dangerous wayto kill them early on is to use acombination of a Shock Trap and aMakeshift Crossbowto take them out from afar. Security Bots caneasily be kited aroundonce they’ve spotted you, and as long as youkeep them at a medium distance, they’ll rarely use their tackle.

Before the Security Bot wakes up,place a Shock Trap down in its path, then get yourMakeshift Crossbow readyand make sure you’ve gotaround 30 to 40 Bolts, depending on your Accuracy.
Shock Traps take around five seconds to recharge after being activated, but can be reused infinitelyand replaced in other locations if needed.
When it gets up,let it see you, then walk backwardsso it canwalk onto the Shock Trap, andget stunnedfor a few seconds.Shoot it with the Bolts while continuing to back up, staying at about a medium distance again, andkite the Security Botaround in a circlenear the Shock Trap.
Make sure youlet it get shocked againevery few seconds forextra damageand amoment to reload, heal, or even do in forsome melee hitsif you want, and thencontinue this process until it dies. With theShock Trap’s damage included, it’ll takearound 25 to 30 Bolts. Without the traps, it would be closer to 40 Bolts.
Security Bots can also be stunned and damaged by natural electrical hazards, such as the electrified water on Level Three, making for an easy kill on them.
Once it’s dead, the Security Bot willdrop a few random sodas, and you canuse a Kitchen Knife to butcher itlike you would an alien, but it takes a bit longer to do so.
It willalways drop Robot Oil and one Security Bot CPU, an incredibly important resource, along with achance for some Metal Scraps, Coils, Glass Scrap, and Tech Scrap.
Besides dropping the Security Bot CPU, they’re also agreat way toobtain a large amount of Metal Scraps,as you canset up automatic farmsfor them and avoid spending a significant amount of time breaking Filing Cabinets.
What To Do With Security Bot CPUs
Themain usefor Security Bot CPUs is tomake Computational Bricks, a key material inseveral mandatory items: the Controller, Infrared Emitter, and the LCD Screen, which are used tocraft the Keypad Hacker.

TheKeypad Hacker is required to progressin the game andget access to certain itemslike the Power Cell and intolocked areas such as Security Rooms.
All therecipes for the Keypad Hacker’s componentsand theKeypad Hackeritself can bediscovered by crafting the Computational Brick.
Making each of thesubsequent items they revealto you at a Crafting Bench willkeep unlocking thingsuntil you see theKeypad Hacker recipe, but it can beeasier to get all the recipes at one time from Alice Mayfield, a GATE Researcher onLevel Three.
How To Find Alice Mayfield
You can reach Alice Mayfield bygoing left at Receptionto the Security Office, following thepath to that Security Office, then using anEnergy Brick to open the shuttersnearby.
This willunlock a small sectionwith a shortcut back to the entrance to Manufacturing West and alift that takes you to a section of Level Three.
Ride the liftto a small research area thatwarns you of Radiation, then go to thePortal at the end of the catwalkand enter it to reach Anteverse II. This area has somekey resources, like Anteverse Wheat, and twoExor you’ll want to fightfor their Hearts, which canhelp upgrade your Workbench.
Go through the part of Anteverse II and out thePortal at the other end of the area, and you’ll come out atanother part of Level Three. Walk down the pipes you come out onto, jump over the electrified water, then follow thepath to Silo Three.
Make sure tounlock the elevator across from where Alice Mayfield is, as it will bring you back to the elevator near reception and permanently unlock that elevator as a shortcutbetween the two floors.
Alice Mayfield will be in anunlocked room near the entrance to Silo Three, and she’ll give you therecipe for the Keypad Hacker and all its needed components, as well as a hint about what you can use the Keypad Hacker on.
