How To Get Leather Scrap
Leather Scrap can beobtained in two main ways: bysalvaging specific itemsand bybutchering certain creatures. Both methods require the right tools and locations, which we’ll break down below.
Briefcase
Briefcases arelootable containersthat drop four Leather Scrap and one Metal Scrap when salvaged at a Repair and Salvage Station. Briefcases are commonly found in:

Radio Pack
Killing Captains, field officers for the Order, occasionallyyields Radio Packs. Captains are found both inManufacturing West and Cascade Laboratories. Captains hit hard with their magnum revolvers, but they have little defense and areweak to sharp damage.
Salvaging a Radio Packat a Repair and Salvage Station provides Leather Scrap among other materials like Cloth and Military Electronics. It’s a dependable method if you’re farming higher-level hostiles.
Rat Suit And Rat Pack
Inlaboratory sectors, the elusive Lab Rat is a unique source of Leather Scrap. These neutral Order enemiesroam office areasonce the player progresses the game far enough, andemit a radiation cloudand flee when spotted. Defeating them requires a certain method:

Gatekeeper Chieftains are elite Order enemies found inReactor and Shadowgate sectors, easily recognized by their skull helmets, handgun usage, and aggressive melee moves. To defeat them,use cover, dodge, and hit them with blunt or piercing weapons while they reload.
Chieftainsdrop a Chieftain Packwhen killed. This special backpack can be salvaged at a Repair and Salvage Station intothree Leather Scrapand Three Metal Scrap. Farming Gatekeeper Chieftains is a valuable endgame way to secure Leather Scrap consistently.
Sow Peccary
Sow Peccaries are aggressive Anteverse II creatures that patrol areas like theWildlife Penson the second floor of Cascade Laboratories. You’ll find one Sow alongside an Exornext to the Viewing Platformdoor in the Adjustment Wing, above the pens, near a tall room with specimen containers (zombies may appear later if you’ve completed theFurniture Store). Another Sow Peccary waits with anArmored Exor in a garagebeyond the dam area of the Hydroplant.
ARaw Peccary Chopis always dropped when a Sow is butchered, while Milk Sac, Sow Skull, and Leather Scraps drop in various quantities.
To fight a Sow Peccary safely,equip a shield, even a makeshift plastic tray will work, and carry blunt weapons like table or chair legs. Raise your shield until the Peccaryfinishes its two jump pattern, then approach andstrike its headto stagger it. This allows multiple safe hits without taking damage. You can alsosidestep its sparkly chargeattack to avoid serious harm. Alternatively, stun itwith a netbefore landing several headshots with a blunt weapon. When defeated,butcher the Sowwith a knife, and it should drop Leather Scrap roughly 50 percent of the time.
How To Use A Repair And Salvage Station To Get Leather Scrap
To build a Repair and Salvage Station, you’ll needsix Duct Tape, two Coils, one Anvil, and two Metal Pipes, as well as access to aCrafting Benchto make it. Once made, put it inyour hotbar to deploy it, preferably near a power source. Once powered, the station allows you to bothrepair gear and salvage unwanted lootinto raw materials.
If your station iswithin rangeof a Crafting Bench that has theItem Transporter upgrade, you can repair gearwithout carrying the materialsin your inventory or containers.
To salvage items like Rat Packs or Briefcases, simply have the item in your inventory,interact with the stationand select the salvage option. The UI will display exactly what Leather Scrap and other components you’ll receive.
