Besides the enemies you’ll face as you try to escape the GATE Cascade Research Facility inAbiotic Factor, you’ll also have to deal with enemies assaulting your base. Whether the threat is from a Portal Storm or a group of Order members looking to kill you, an undefended base can easily be trashed.

These attacks don’t happen on a schedule either, and if you’re caught in one while you’re away from base, you might come rushing home to broken chests and your resources scattered. To keep your base safe, whether you’re home or not, you’ll want to invest in base defenses, and the Tesla Coil is one of the best – and most dangerous.

How To Craft The Tesla Coil

The Tesla Coil isone of several defensive machinesyou can craft to helpdefend your basefrom hostile enemies thatspawn and beeline for your Crafting Benchduring incursions.

Theseincursions happen every few in-game days, depending on your server’s settings, and are always announced by purple warning text on your screen, starting with saying the air tonight feels different.

How To Set Up A Tesla Coil

The Tesla Coil, like most other stations and items in the game, requires power to work. Once placed down, you’ll need tohook it up to a Power Outlet or portable power sourcelike a Battery, and this allows it to turn on.

Because of theTesla Coil’s indiscriminate attacks, you’ll want to have ithooked up to a Leverso you canturn it on and off, and place it in such a way that you caneasily get out of its rangeif you don’t have the Glow Shard.

Agood long-term base is the Security Office in the Office Sector, and you can put the Tesla Coil in the center of the room, turn it on during an incursion, and then shoot from the second floorof the room to safely avoid damage from it.

First, place the Tesla Coilnear themost defensible or highly attacked spot, such as near your Crafting Bench or the room you keep your Crafting Bench in.

Next, put aLever within range of it and a power source, with the best choices being awall socket or a Battery, either of which needs to bewithin the Lever’s rangeas well, unless youextend it using Tech Scrap.

Connect theLever to the Tesla Coil, then you need toconnect the power source to the Lever lastto ensure that theLever properly controls the Tesla Coil, and it isn’t just powered all the time.

You canhook a single Lever and power source up to multiple base-defense machines using a Plug Strip, which allows multiple machines to attach to itand be controlled easily.

Now you may flip the Lever toturn the Tesla Coil on whenever you needto, and this system willgive you a chance to get to a safe distancebefore it strikes you, or ensure you only get a hit a couple of times at best.
