You won’t often be using fancy equipment inAbiotic Factor, not with everything broken, locked down, or both. You’ll have to make things from office supplies and salvaged metal, like turning a floor lamp into a spear or some metal pipes into a club you can defend yourself with.

These makeshift items don’t last forever, though. You don’t want to have them break at a bad time, and it’s unwieldy to carry around five of the same items in the event one of them does break, since you have limited inventory space and a weight capacity. You’ll want to keep them repaired, and to do some repairing, you’ll need an Anvil.

How To Find An Anvil

Anvils are akey componentin making theRepair & Salvage Station, an amazingly useful crafting station that allows you torepair your armor and weapons, orbreak down resourcesinto their base components, such asturning Rotten Meat into Bio Scraps.

Thefirst and earliest placeyou can find an Anvil is theSupply Room that’s hidden behind the Cafeteria, where you meet Dr. Thule. Head into theStorage Room that Dr. Thule told you to go through, and crawl through thevent that leads to the room with the Carbuncle.

Instead of going right to where the Carbuncle is, go through thevent directly ahead of you, and you’ll come to a spinning fan. Wait until it’spast 9 PM, and the power will turn offlike usual, turning off the fan, and now you cancrouch beneath it and go pastto the other side.

Go into the next section, thendrop into the next roomfrom the vent, unlock the green doorto give yourself ashortcut back to the Cafeteria, then go through theblue door with the blood trailleading inside.

Inside the room, you’ll find aton of resources to pick up, such as Paper Scraps, Tomato Seeds, a Flashlight, and there are also afew Filing Cabinets you can loot.

There will be anAnvil on the bottom shelfon one of theshelves near the middle of the room, against the wall adjacent to the Maintenance Room door. Grab it, then you canleave through the green doorand bring it back to your base.

you’re able to alsofind an employee crawling on the groundinside the Maintenance Closet, and you can feed him different food items to eventually get him to drop several resource itemsfor you.

Two additional Anvils can also be found in theStorage Room next to Silo Threeand theroom where Dr. Alice Mayfieldis, and several more can befound throughout Manufacturing West, such as in theShipping Logistics area.

What You Can Craft With Anvils

The Anvil isprimarily used for two things: to make theRepair & Salvage Station, and to make theSymphonist Scarecrowlater in the game once you’ve gained access to Flathill. For theRepair & Salvage Station, you’llneed four materials, including the Anvil, most of which are much easier to acquire:

The second use for Anvils is making theSymphonist Scarecrow, and it’s specifically used todefend your base against Symphonistswithin theworld of Flathill, which you’llneed to go throughlater in the game.
