Stellar Blade’sjump from thePlayStation 5toSteamhas been a resounding success. While the game was successful on the Sony platform,it took less than 24 hours to break a record set by every other title in the PlayStation to PC pipeline. It took just another 48 hours for developers Shift Up to confirmthe game had sold over a million copies.
We already know that a sequel to the game is in the works, witha report stating it’s due for release next yearandStellar Blade’s director confirming he wants to focus on its story. But before that, it seems like the game could be coming to another platform—the Nintendo Switch 2.
Shift Up Has Reportedly Begun Development On A Switch 2 Port Of Stellar Blade
A new report fromPlayForum, a Korean technology news outlet, translated usingDeepL, states that,“Shift Up has officially begun development on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of its flagship title, Stellar Blade.”
The report details that Shift Up recently acquired an official Switch 2 dev kit, and initial work on the port has already begun. The port reportedly comes as part of the South Korean company’s “IP expansion strategy”, which will see Stellar Blade “cross-pollinate with other content.” There is every possibility that we will see more crossovers like the one that sawNier Automata’s 2B make her way into Shift Up’s action title.
Shift Up has officially begun development on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of its flagship title, Stellar Blade.
A Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade is an interesting proposition. Nintendo’s target age demographic has historically skewed lower, although with ports of games likeCyberpunk 2077,Borderlands 4, andElden Ring’s Tarnished Edition, all making their way to the platform, that could be about to change. The bigger question is: just how successful would a Switch 2 port of Stellar Blade be?
Much of the success of the game’s PC version likely comes down to its modding capabilities. Although the game’s directorbelieves the official content is “still better”,the Stellar Blade demowas bombarded with raunchy mods, and that trend continued following its full release, with itbeating Nier Automata’s NSFW record in just 24 hours.
