With absolutely no fanfare whatsoever,Xboxhas casually confirmed that some of us will be able to playHollow Knight: Silksongin just a few weeks.

As confirmed in ablog post, Xbox’s booth at Gamescom 2025 will include a playable demo of Silksong. This will be the first time that the long-awaited game is playable, and comes after years of waiting for development updates.

Better yet, this makes it incredibly likely that Silksong will get a trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Yes, for real this time. After years of coping and then mourning after each and every game showcase, it really does look like fans are going to get what they’ve been waiting for next month.

Gamescom Attendees Will be Able To Play Silksong

Gamescom 2025 will take place from August 20 to 24. In the blog post, Xbox outlines all of the games that it will have on offer, and among the list of titles, we see Silksong. There’s no further description of what fans can expect from the booth, other than that it will indeed be a “playable demo”, featuring alongside other third-party games likeBorderlands 4,Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, andInvincible VS.

Hopefully, the fact that Silksong will be open to the public means that it is sticking to its 2025 release window. In fact, if it does appear at Opening Night Live, we might even get a clear release date.

To get the chance to play Silksong for yourself, you’ll have to get a ticket for Gamescom, which takes place in Cologne, Germany. Speaking from experience, those public halls can getcrowded, and Silksong is likely to be in high demand, so expect long lines - especially since it’s not getting its own dedicated booth.

The significance of this is quite hard to put into words if you haven’t been following the situation yourself. Basically, fans have been waiting for so long that the situation has developed a life of its own, with the community often joking about the long wait. This has includedpicking fights with other fanbases waiting for new games, offering tosacrifice themselves, and justmaking up a release date. In fact, the industry itself is starting to poke fun at this culture around the game,as we saw at Summer Game Fest.
