Atus can’t resist remastering some of their most beloved games, and the next in a long line of upgraded 2000s classics isRaidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, a faithful remastering of the 2006 Playstation 2 classic, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army.

With a modern coat of paint over the classic adventure RPG bones in this 2025 remake, you’ll find a whole slew of upgrades that Atlus has made to the original game. There’s been a massive overhaul to the combat system, most of your favorite main characters are voice-acted now, and so much more.

There Are More Demons

50 Or So Extra, To Be Exact

The Shin Megami Tensei series has always been home to dozens of demons across the various games within, but as time marched on, Atlus began giving us more and more devil familiars to use in combat. While we only had around 70 in the original 2006 game, Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army boasts more than 120 demons in your devil chart.

And speaking of, this time, you’ll have access to the “Special Devil Chart.” This allows you to log a few demons with multiple iterations and decide which one you’d like to withdraw for fusion when the time comes. Did you use skill books to change a demon’s move list, but want to pass on their original skills instead? No worries – just choose which of these devils you’d like back in your tubes.

You can even carry multiples of the same demon in your tubes. If you confine a slew of the same demon for fusion ingredients, you’ll save some time withdrawing them all again one by one.

Main Characters Are Voiced Now

But We Still Love A Mostly Silent Protagonist

There’s plenty to love about visual novels, and they lend themselves especially well to creepy supernatural games like Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. That said, Atlus has employed some pretty notable voice actors in their modern remakes of their older PlayStation 2 staples, and this one is no exception.

You’ll find that every main character in the game will have fully voice-acted lines, and there are some pretty big names on the cast list for this one. Of course, it wouldn’t really be an SMT game without the mostly-silent protagonist, so most characters will be talkingatRaidou instead ofwithhim.

You can choose from a variety of languages for the text in the game’s settings, but voice acting for Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is only in English or Japanese at the time of launch.

Replenish MAG In Combat

You Can Still Use Items, But You Can Also Restore It For Free

As a devil summoner,Raidou Kuzunoha XIVwill need to find ways to ensure the demons fighting by his side during the game have an ample supply of MAG to draw on when using their attacks in combat. This MAG – short for Magnetism – is represented by the green bar at the bottom of your screen on the battlefield, and you’ll find plenty of items that replenish some or all of your MAG.

But Raidou Remastered includes a few ways to restore MAG that the original Devil Summoner title didn’t have. Maximizing demon loyalty will occasionally restore your HP and/or MAG, and Raidou’s quick sword slash attacks restore good amounts of it while you’re on the battlefield as well.

Using the quick sword slash on staggered enemies drains MAG at a notably faster rate than normal, too, so be sure to capitaize!

Raidou will be using MAG as well during battles when using his array of Summoner Skills, and the stronger magic abilities your demons gain as they level up into the strongest demons in the game. Between all of this, be sure to utilize the new ways to restore your MAG in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Raidou Has New Combat Abilities

Gouto Will Help You Be OP

Raidou Kuzunoha has to be a tough fighter by default – you saw all the souls of those who failed to gain the title before you back at the beginning of the game, right? That said, this time around, those aiming to be the next Devil Summoner will have an easier time in doing so, since we’ve got a few new combat abilities in the 2025 remaster.

Gouto-Douji will keep an eye out for you for opportunities to use two special attacks:

Pay attention to the audio and visual cues that these moves are ready to use and choose when to deploy them wisely – they can be real game-changers in tougher fights.

Your Whole Party Gains EXP

Loyalty Is Another Story, Though

With so many new devils in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, you thankfully don’t have to worry about any of them falling behind in experience. After all, the teammates who show up and fight for the EXP have the right to earn the most, and they still will, but the remaster seeks to help you keep up with the almost double the number of demons by sharing experience.

Every familiar in your tubes will earn EXP for your combat experiences regardless of whether they spent any time on the battlefield. You’ll still see the demons who fought earning the most, but this is a helpful way to passively level up demons who need to learn new skills or get some more experience under their proverbial belt before they’re viable fighters on the battlefield.

Loyalty, however, is still gained through time on the battlefield. You can also give demons shots of sake that match their Demon Order to increase their loyalty outside of combat as well.

The Express Streetcar Quick Travel System

All Aboard!

Before long into the meat of the story in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, you’ll be venturing out into all kinds of periphery districts in the capital. While the heart of the story happens in Tsukubo-cho, Raidou’s investigation will take him to all kinds of neighboring areas, through which he’ll need to wander and explore to progress cases.

Thankfully, the 2025 remake of this 2006 PS2 classic has updated the map a little. Not only do you now have a mini-map in the top corner of the screen, but you can now use the Express Streetcar from anywhere, to travel to anywhere.

You used to need to leave cities through the appropriate exit and ride the streetcar manually, but Raidou can leave most places now whenever you’d like. You can even head directly into Kounno-ya or the Goumaden from the Express Streetcar, locations that did not have fast travel access in the original game. You can even run through the cities now, too!

You can’t use the Express Streetcar to leave the Dark Realm, though. You can use it toentercertain areas of the Dark Realm, but you’ll still need to leave through fissures.

A Comprehensive Detective Journal

Gouto-Douji Is So Well-Spoken

There are a ton of mechanics you’ll need to master before you’re able to truly call yourself a proper devil summoner in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Thankfully, the game will give you guided walkthroughs on the most major things, but with so much to learn and memorize, you might appreciate a chance to dive back through the most important parts of the game.

And that’s where the Detective Journal comes in. In Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, Gouto is keeping a log of important information for you – things like combat tutorials, fusion pointers, and even new case files you’re able to take on between story beats. Anytime you see the icon of Gouto writing with his mouth, you’ll have new info in your Detective Journal.

Capture The Same Demon Multiple Times

Why Buy Fusion Fodder Demons When You can Confine Them For Free?

While you’re out exploring the Dark Realm – whether that’s as you progress the main story or running back through for a bit of combat training – you’ll have several opportunities to attack demons and lure them into battle. For the most part, you’ll be able to confine and capture several demons, with the only big exceptions being bosses and the zombie-like humans wandering the city.

Getting them halfway to confinement even gives you a free item! Not a fan of the tapping to confine, or not able to rapid-tapid for accessibility reasons? Head to the settings and swap to holding the buttons to confine instead, another new addition in the 2025 remaster.

Before, you could only have one of each demon in Raidou’s tube at any given moment, and that’s still true if you’re summoning them in the Goumaden using your Devil Chart. If you’re out exploring the Dark Realm, though, and come across a demon you’d like to use for fusion a few times, you may now keep multiples of the same demon in Raidou’s tubes.

Overhauls To Fusion

More Passive Skills, More Combat Slots

Fusion is a huge component of your success inShin Megami Tenseigames, and Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is absolutely not an exception. You’ll need to speak to Victor often to keep fusing new demons using your older ones, making them more powerful as you continue your experiments.

Now, though, you’ve got new options for how fusion functions. Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army allowed you to perform standard fusions, but the remaster gives you alternate fusion options, too. you’re able to search for fusions, and even see which demons can currently be made using the devils in your tubes via Reverse Fusion.

You can even pass down Passive Skills now, too, abilities your demons bring into battle that boost their stats, help them endure otherwise fatal hits, and more.

General Time And Money Savers

Fast-Travel To The Goumaden, And Heal Your Wounds

Outside the major changes listed above already,Atlus has given us tonsof smaller quality of life adjustments in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army that the original 2006 game didn’t have. For instance, you can still save your game manually at Dragon’s Founts, but we’ve also got a quick save and auto-save now, too.

Should you opt into playing on a difficulty that allows Raidou to perish in battle, you’re able to opt directly into continuing from the last fight instead of needing to backtrack a bit before you can try again. You can choose your difficulty level at the beginning, but you can also change it in the settings at any time.

In terms of saving yen for Raidou, since you’ll need plenty for buying items at Kounno-ya or re-summoning demons at the Goumaden, you’ve got options for that as well. When you need some healing, Nakisawame is more than happy to help should you find her in the Dark Realm, but while she used to charge a fee in the original game, the remaster sees her healing Raidou for free.

Not only that, but you can find free items dotted around the various neighborhoods of the capital to sell for extra cash. If you can make it back to the Goumaden or to Narukami Detective Agency, you’ll be able to heal there as well reducing the need for healing items in general.
