The potential for characters inMarvel Tokon: Fighting Soulsis huge. Gone are the days of waiting for the next Marvel vs Capcom game, as Arc System Works has taken the reins to try their hand at a Marvel fighting game. With their unique flair, battle system, and art style, there’s so much potential for unique gameplay opportunities when it comes to characters to add to the roster.
So, which Marvel characters will make the most unique tag in fighters for this 4v4 tag team battle title? From the extremely obvious to the uniquely interesting options, here’s everyone we need to see in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
10The Fantastic Four
Marvel’s First Family Of Four In A 4v4 Fighter
In what clearly makes the most sense, you can’t have a 4v4 Marvel tag team battle without Marvel’s first family of four. While they should each have their own moveset on the roster, it makes sense to place them here together as one option.
Aside from the potential of each individual fighter, the tag team abilities that can be used between the family members alone make them worth including. The potential for Mr.Fantastic to stretch like Dhalsim, Invisible Woman to sneak in unseen assists, and a fiery tornado flying through the frame and shooting you to the next part of the map, or the Thing interrupting combos by just being sturdy, the potential is massive.
9Baron Zemo
Asa master strategist, it’s well worth it to see Baron Zemo in the game as he is in the comics, not the watered-down version in the MCU. As a regular villain against Captain America, it’s worth seeing him in even more content to take on Cap.
As for his kit, he’s not only a hand-to-hand combat specialist who can hold his own against characters already in the roster. He’s also a brilliant marksman, perfect for crafting mid-to-long range kits that he can utilize for a wide range of attack possibilities.
8Nightcrawler
He’s Finally In More Than Just Someone Else’s Ending
While he’s never had time to truly shine, Nightcrawler would be an easy addition to Marvel Tokon. Having only really appeared in a comic-style ending with Trish in UMVC3, his powers of stealth, teleportation, and quick jabs would make him perfect for a Marvel fighting game.
He can use daggers in his tail while wall-hugging with his adhesive hands and feet. He can also teleport around the screen to catch your opponent from behind, and his agility would make him one of the fastest characters in the game, and probably annoying to fight against.
7Luke Cage
Bulletproof And Quick Healing, What Do You Even Do To This Guy?
One of the most annoying and potentially unbalanced things in a fighting game is self-healing. There’s a reason people think Elena of Street Fighter fame can potentially be broken. What exactly can Star Lord do against a bulletproof opponent?
Well, of course, sharp objects and internal injuries are still an issue here, so several characters will still have a good chance against him. Add in some potential for self-healing and some heavy-hitting, differentiate him from Hulk, and you’ve got a ready-made fighter.
6Black Widow/ Natasha Romanova
Training And Skill Pay Off
Mobility and stealth would make Black Widow’s kit in Marvel Tokon. She can use low and mid-range jabs with her sticks, and of course, long-range damage with a gun, which would be great for off-screen assists. Her agility will allow her to move across the screen quickly, either getting out of close range to shoot from afar or getting into close range to deal quick hits.
Throw in an ability for her tohide in the shadows, essentially becoming invisible (similar to X-23 in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3) to utilize her stealth and throw your opponent off guard before coming in with a quick swipe or a gun blast.
5Rogue
The Perfect Mimic
One of the coolest things you can do to psych out your opponent is showing up as one character, but actually being another. If there were a way to secretly select Rogue and have her take on the appearance of a random character during the character intro, imagine the mind games you’d play with your opponent when the moves being used aren’t what you’re used to.
Couple this with the ability to mimic other characters' moves or ultimates by spending your bar, and you can truly make the most unpredictable fighter with a high skill ceiling that can completely change the trajectory of a match.
4Vision
The Vision Of The Future You’ll Have Is A Win
Vision deserves a lot more love, and having him in Marvel Tokon would allow him to show off just how powerful he truly is. Superhuman strength is a must at this point when it comes to these games, so that’s not surprising. A massive beam blasted from his forehead will deal massive damage or serve as the perfect off-screen assist.
Being able to turn any part of his body diamond-like will help with damage deduction or immunity to grappling. Of course, being able to phase through people and objects also helps, making him a uniquely versatile character overall.
3She Hulk
Big, Green And Bolder Than Ever
A character who definitely deserves more love, She Hulk would be the perfect addition to Fighting Souls. Unlike the Hulk, she would have a lot more control over her form, allowing for even better gameplay techniques when it comes to her abilities. Of course, having better voice lines than “Hulk Smash” is also great.
An easy brawler with a slimmer frame and a design that’ll fit right into the Arc Systems art style with very little effort, without sacrificing any of her original design. She’d also make a great assist, with several options that can differentiate her from Hulk.
2Emma Frost
Diamond Invulnerability
There’s no reason we don’t see Emma in fighting games more often. Similar to Vision, the ability to turn portions of her body into diamond is such a unique mechanic that can allow her to become invulnerable to certain forms of attack. This form allows her to get some slick melee hits in and deal close-range damage, while, of course, enhancing her strength and durability.
To help with mid-range, she can use psionic powers or beams to deal damage. Mind control is always fun, so preventing your opponent from using any bar or other resource through mind control can be an effective way to shut down bar usage in the game. Her range of play style and ability make her unique.
1Phoenix/Jean Grey
“I Can’t Control It”
That iconic line “I can’t control it” lives rent-free in the heads ofMarvel vs Capcom players. There’s no way Marvel Tokon can go without having Jean Grey and the Phoenix Force in their own iteration. Though to be fair, I wouldn’t be upset if she had the exact same Phoenix Force ability to revive after death with a full meter stacked.
We need more fliers in the game, and there’s an even cooler opportunity here to allow her to fight completely as Phoenix when the force takes over. To switch between forms could be even better, allowing you to switch playstyles on the fly and adjust to your opponent with some truly unique strategies.
