With over 30 games and almost two decades of history,Assassin’s Creedhas become a household name in the video games industry since the early PS3 and Xbox 360 days. We have played with many assassins and eliminated countless targets in the historic settings. While the series had, more or less, a general structure until AC Syndicate, it transformed into something else in Origins. Since then, Assassin’s Creed has become a franchise of huge games with plenty of things to do in them, like side quests....

Remedy Entertainment’s take on a first-person co-op shooter,FBC: Firebreak,appeared doomedbased on the game’s early Steam player numbers, which barely broke four figures. However, Remedy has revealed in a social media post that FBC: Firebreak has had over 1 million unique players since launch, a feat I never thought possible based on the aforementioned Steam numbers. There are a myriad of potential explanations for how FBC: Firebreak has attracted over a million players while only havinga 24-hour concurrent player peakof 169 on Steam....

By all accounts,FBC: Firebreakis not a bad game. Unfortunately, Remedy’s multiplayer player-versus-environment (PvE) shooter also doesn’t distinguish itself in a stacked genre, competing with titans like Deep Rock Galactic, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide and Killing Floor. This has led to particularly poor player retention, resulting in FBC: Firebreakaveraging approximately 30 concurrent players on Steam. The game is available on Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Premium, but Steam numbers are usually indicative of a game’s overall popularity....

Things haven’t been going too well forFinal Fantasy 14over the past two weeks. Players have been complaining about the overall state of the MMO, includingnew attire that costs a whopping $18. This has led to amassive drop in the player count, and evenYoshi-P admits that the team may have dropped the ball. To add to that, there have also been issues with the game’s latest field operation mode, Occult Crescent. The Forked Tower, which is its 48-player dungeon, has only been cleared around 400 times in three weeks, which is abysmal, considering how many players the game used to get....

Summary Soulslikes are massively popular, even more now than ever before, with the success ofElden Ring. Still, nothing quite compares to the gothic and Lovecraftian horrors ofBloodborne, which is arguably FromSoftware’s best release of all time. An argument we’d likely get behind, as there’s no denying its setting is masterclass. Still,while we can hope and beg for Bloodborne to get remasteredor receive a sequel until we lose our sanity, there are some other excellent gothic-themed Soulslikes out there just waiting to be picked up and played....

But, for a long time, it’s been hotly contested whether or not the 2D entries into this franchise are superior to the 3D ones, or if it’s the other way around.
